The old chair squeaked
As I rocked you - and me
I felt movements
Softly beneath my heart
And watched me swell
As you grew
And I patted you
And held you close
And warm.
Now I hold you
Enclosed in my arms
And I feel you stir
Above my heart,
Against my breast.
You give me warmth
And I watch you grow
And I grow too.
Happy Birthday
A poem I wrote when you were an infant.
